City of Leduc prepares for upcoming municipal election

Nomination packages are available at Leduc Civic Centre and online

(AEN) - Leduc citizens can expect a few changes with the 2013 Municipal Election, which include;

  • Elected officials will serve four years, instead of three
  • All voters must present identification before they can fill out a ballot at polling stations

Candidate Information Guide and nomination packages are now available online at Leduc.ca/election or in-person at the Leduc Civic Centre (1 Alexandra Park, Leduc). Nomination day is Sept. 23, 2013. All nomination packages must be filled out correctly and submitted between 10 a.m. and noon. Any packages dropped off after this deadline will not be accepted.

Leduc’s 2013 Municipal Election is Oct. 21, 2013, 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. All eligible voters must present valid identification at the polling station. Valid identification includes:

  • Government-issued ID, i.e. Driver's License
  • Bank/credit card statement or personal cheque
  • Correspondence issued by a school, college or university
  • Government cheque or cheque stub
  • Income/property tax assessment notice
  • Letter from a public curator, public guardian or public trustee
  • Pension Plan statement of benefits, contributions or participation
  • Prescription bottle insert
  • Residential lease or mortgage statement
  • Statement of government benefits
  • Utility bill
  • Vehicle ownership or insurance certificate
  • Attestation of residence, letter of stay, admission form or statement of benefits issued by the responsible authority of a shelter or soup kitchen.
